Monday, August 22, 2011, a day before the Virginia 5.9 earthquake, I was sitting in my  home office at approximately 1:30 PM. I felt a small vibration for 1-2 seconds and thought it might be a earthquake tremor. Small tremors in NC and VA are not that rare. However, the 5.9 quake in Virginia was apparently the largest in the area in over a hundred years.

The Charleston earthquake of 1886 estimated to be a 7 magnitude damaged buildings as far away as Greensboro, NC. This photo is from damage to the Charleston, SC area.

The Colorado earthquake that occurred the same day as the Virginia quake was also rare. From the NY Times August 23, 2011.

“The largest natural earthquake in Colorado in more than a century struck Monday night in the state’s southeast corner, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3, was centered about nine miles from the city of Trinidad and hit at 11:46 p.m. local time. It was felt as far away as Greeley, about 350 miles north, and into Kansas and New Mexico, said Julie Dutton, a geophysicist at the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo.”

  1. Everyone can get out in front on this one.
The RINO establishment and RINO Tea party infiltrators have been pushing Rubio for VP. He’s not eligible. I wish he were!

  5. http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/24/perry-surges-in-polls-testing-romneys-strategy/

Primary polls can be erratic, so the rule is not to get too worked up about any one set of numbers. But now there have been five surveys conducted since Rick Perry announced his presidential campaign — one each from Gallup, Rasmussen Reports and Public Policy Polling, and two from YouGov. Each shows Mr. Perry having vaulted into a lead over Mitt Romney.

On average, Mr. Perry gets 26 percent of the vote in the new surveys, as compared to 16 percent for Mr. Romney. By comparison, in polls conducted in the month prior to Mr. Perry’s announcement, he averaged 14 percent to Mr. Romney’s 21 percent.

Mr. Perry’s results are yet more impressive if you account for his name recognition — which although increasing very rapidly remains behind that of Mr. Romney and some of the other Republican contenders. About two-thirds of Republican voters now recognize Mr. Perry’s name, which means that almost 4 in 10 who do recognize him have him as their first choice, roughly double the fraction for Mr. Romney.

Instead, the key numbers for Mr. Romney are in New Hampshire and Iowa.

Mr. Romney retains a reasonably large lead in New Hampshire for now. The danger is that, if Mr. Perry were to win Iowa convincingly, he could clear the field of other conservative candidates. New Hampshire has a lot of moderate and independent voters — but it is still majority conservative. And although Mr. Romney holds a solid lead over each of the individual conservatives, he does not hold a lead over them collectively: Mr. Perry, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich together have in excess of 50 percent of the vote there, based on a trendline constructed from recent polls of the state, as compared to 34 percent for Mr. Romney. If, for example, Mr. Perry were to knock out Mrs. Bachmann, Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Cain by winning Iowa, picking up most of their votes, the New Hampshire contest would become very tight.

  6. http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/08/rick-perry-takes-a-shot-at-romney-over-mass-health-care-.html

This is the first hit Perry has taken at a presidential candidate since he announced he’s toying with the idea of a run, but this is not the first time Perry has taken a swipe at Romney. In his most recent book, “Fed Up!,” Perry said he supports states’ decisions on healthcare but said Texans would not favor a plan like the one developed by Romney or Obama.

“On the other side of the coin, Massachusetts is free to experiment with state run healthcare. If federalism is respected, the people of Massachusetts are free to try it while the rest of tha ntion sits back and watches to see if they have any success, and whether any success they do have is worth the price of losing liberty. Now, we in Texas are not too excited about the prospect of government-run anything, much less health care, and the federal legislation – known to most as Obamacare – is a direct result on the principle of federalism.”

  8. The Orly Taitz Affair
Perhaps the delay in covering this will work out better as Dr. Orly Taitz is in the process of hauling the Hawaiian’s responsible for the Obama forgeries into federal court, and this analysis will have more purpose now that the dust has settled and a new dust up is coming.

What no one has covered in this is the game changer which took place in federal court in which “someone” altered documents submitted by Attorney Taitz.
The reaction of Dr. Taitz to being scolded by the court for wasting it’s time in the Social Security numbers being misused, points to the reality that she knew she submitted the court papers correctly, as she went tooth and claw after a courtroom deputy over this issue.

For a bit of background in this, the Obots went public in bragging that they were in court, and were winking with the judge and court officials in collusion over this case, meaning as the threads which Dr. Jerome Corsi has uncovered in his investigations, the Obots have been stalking people from Lawrence Sinclair to Dr. Taitz, and went so far as to feed Dr. Taitz forgeries they created. 9. How Did Obama Obtain a Social Security Number from Connecticut?

    A BLOGGER’S PERSPECTIVE

by Dwight Kehoe, blogging at TPATH

(Aug. 24, 2011) — Susan Daniels, a private investigator with almost 2 decades of experience has come to a very compelling conclusion – President Obama is using a Social Security number, issued to someone else. This is, as is the forgery of public documents, a crime.

The SS number Obama is illegally using will not be posted here, but it can be found easily enough if one wishes to verify these facts.

From the age of 15 to 25, there is no record of Obama using any Social Security number. While in school in Hawaii he may well have been able to get by without one. However, once he moved to California and began university schooling in Occidental College, he would need to provide one.

Conveniently, all of his college records have been sealed, so there is no way of knowing, at least for now, what SS number he used at that time. It is possible that the number he used may be at the heart of why he needed a new one. Maybe he was issued a foreign student SS number along with monetary aid for schooling. Not knowing the real reason, this of course is just the speculation of this writer, me. At this point only Obama knows why.

I’ll support whomever wins the Republican primary. It is still early days, lots of time to go. At this point, I’m going to support the person who most reflects the moral character, work ethic and standards that our country deserves. Herman Cain. Lots of time to get behind whomever wins.

It is imperative that we all contact the candidates that we support and advise them that Rubio is not constitutionally qualified to be VP. I think that Gov. Perry and his team already know this. They also know that Rubio brings nothing to the table for Perry. He is already beating bo in the Florida Polls and Perry has far greater conservative credibility than Rubio ever dreamed of having. Rubio is a lot like bo in that all he has ever done is make some good speeches and become the darling of the msm.

Perry will not select Rubio as his running mate. Rino Romney is another matter. I could see him selecting Rubio to increase his conservative creds and put a little charisma of which Romney has none and in a vain attempt to win Florida, but Romney could not win in Florida no matter who the demRats nominate.

    ——————————————————————————–

On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to congratulate the people of Switzerland on the 720th anniversary of your republic this August 1.

In the seven centuries since the first Federal Charter was signed, the Swiss Confederation has played an important role in world affairs. Your rich history of neutrality gives you the ability to mediate and reconcile difficult conflicts. You have been a vital partner for over 30 years representing American interests in Iran and other countries throughout the world.

America’s Founders were inspired by the ideas and values of early Swiss philosophers like Jean-Jacques Burlamaqui and Emer de Vattel, and the 1848 Swiss Constitution was influenced by our own U.S. Constitution. Swiss commitment to democracy is an example for nations and people everywhere who yearn for greater freedoms and human rights.

As you celebrate this special day, know that the United States stands with you and we look forward to a future filled with friendship and cooperation.

  29. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Latest-News-Wires/2011/0825/Rick-Perry-zips-past-Mitt-Romney-in-the-polls

America, you have a new GOP frontrunner: Rick Perry has roared to the front of the GOP presidential field, according to the latest Gallup poll.

In only a short few weeks since the Texas governor announced his candidacy, Perry has gobbled up former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s lead in the national polls and then some, opening up a 12 percentage point advantage.

Not only that: Perry leads Romney among conservatives by a 33-16 margin, among all categories of church goers (even those who rarely, if ever, attend), and among all age groups. The only geographic grouping where Romney prevails is in the east, and even there he is ahead by a single percentage point.

(And don’t look now, but Texas Congressman Ron Paul has overtaken Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann for third place.)

  30. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20097303-503544.html

Republican presidential contender Rick Perry is the latest candidate in the GOP field to take Mitt Romney to task for his record on health care.

Perry, speaking on Laura Ingraham’s conservative talk radio show on Thursday, lambasted the former Massachusetts governor for passing a universal health care law in the state that many have likened to the plan President Obama pushed through Congress last year – including the president himself.

According to the Hill, Perry told Ingraham the law was a “total debacle” and would be a “huge problem” for Romney.

“I think Mitt is finally recognizing that the Massachusetts healthcare plan he passed is a huge problem for him,” Perry said. “It was not almost perfect.”
Rick Perry on Romney’s health care law: It’s a “huge problem” for him

Romney has been widely criticized by Republicans for having pushed through the state’s health care law, and many believe it to be a major political liability going into the 2012 election. The former governor, however, stands by it – and has made repeated attempts to differentiate it from Obama’s plan.
