Gasoline and food price facts for Truth Team and interested Americans.

I have located several versions of an AP article on gas prices and the economy.

From the AP March 16, 2012.

“Higher gas prices threaten economy if they persist”

“Inflation remains tame throughout the U.S. economy, with one big exception: gas prices.

Those higher prices haven’t derailed a steadily improving economy. But if they surpass $4 or $5 a gallon, experts fear Americans could pull back on spending, and job growth could stall, posing a potentially serious threat to the recovery.

And the longer prices remain high, the more they could imperil President Barack Obama’s re-election hopes.

A few weeks ago, economists generally agreed that the economy was in little danger from higher gas prices as long as job growth remained strong. But fears are now mounting that gas prices could begin to weaken consumer confidence.

The average pump price nationwide is $3.83 a gallon. Energy analysts say it’s bound to climb higher in the weeks ahead.

“It’s a thorn in the side of the consumer and businesses,” said Chris Christopher, an economist at IHS Global Insight. The economy this year “would have been better and stronger if we didn’t have to deal with this.”

So far, higher prices aren’t undermining the economic recovery, which is getting a lift from strong job creation. It would take a big jump — to around $5 a gallon — before most economists would worry that growth would halt and the economy would slide into another recession.

That’s because an improving economy is somewhat insulated from any threat posed by higher prices at the pump.

The risk is that gas prices could eventually slow growth by causing some people to cut spending on other goods, from appliances and furniture to electronics and vacations. Gasoline purchases provide less benefit for the U.S. economy because about half of the revenue flows to oil-exporting nations, though U.S. oil companies and gasoline retailers also benefit.

Many American businesses suffer, too. They must pay more for fuel and shipping and for materials affected by high oil prices, such as petroleum-based plastics. Profit margins get squeezed.

Even if prices ease after the summer driving season, don’t expect gasoline to fall below $3 a gallon. The government estimates that this year’s average will be $3.79, followed by $3.72 in 2013.

Most economists accept a rough guideline that a 25-cent rise in gas prices knocks about 0.2 percentage point off economic growth.

Gas prices also have an outsize impact on consumer confidence, Christopher noted. It’s a high-frequency purchase. Consumers notice the price whether they’re filling up or driving past a gas station.

Along with the unemployment rate and stock market levels, gasoline prices heavily determine how Americans see their financial health.

That effect was evident Friday when a decline was reported in the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan index of consumer sentiment. The result surprised some economists who had assumed that higher stock prices and lower unemployment would lift consumer sentiment.

The Michigan report showed that “gasoline worries … are outweighing stock market gains and job growth” when it comes to influencing consumer attitudes, said Michael Hanson, an economist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

The price of gasoline has climbed 17 percent since the year began — to a national average of $3.83 a gallon. That’s the highest ever for this time of year. A month ago, it was $3.52.”

From above:

“So far, higher prices aren’t undermining the economic recovery, which is getting a lift from strong job creation. It would take a big jump — to around $5 a gallon — before most economists would worry that growth would halt and the economy would slide into another recession.”

Which country are they referring to? As evidenced recently in NC and reported here, the NC unemployment rate was adjusted upward to above 10 percent.

Also as reported here several times.

Inflation has been downplayed as well. Anyone visiting a grocery store for the past several years has watched food prices skyrocket, mostly due to rising gasoline prices.

From America’s North Shore Journal March 17, 2012.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) keeps track of the average retail price for a number of common items as a U.S. city average. Let’s take a look at a few. We used the price for the month President Obmam was inaugurated, January 2009, and the last month of data available, December 2011. The items are sorted in descending order by the percentage increase of the price during the Obama administration.

  3. The article at Pay to Play is identical to the one that “was” at Wiki Leaks…it is important to copy/paste and save all articles you fear may disappear copying their web address is not good enough.

  4. Obama: Oprah helped make me president

    Ya think that’s why her ratings are tanking. When she overtly came out in support of Obama, then declined to have Sarah Palin on her show (because she didn’t want to make her show about politics (?) is when the boycotts really began. I have NEVER watched her show on either channel since.

Most of the secrets of Obama are unlocked here… at least, as many secrets as possible in the short time since the “Most Secretive Candidate Ever” was nominated for the position of “Most Powerful Man on Earth”. Some of the most enlightning ten minutes you can watch on the subject.”

  8. Santorum wants to ban porn. Now that is a brave conservative after my heart. Imagine that. A conservative who wants to stop the demeaning of women.Way to go! Values! We need more of them.

  9. But Tina – it’s more government involvement to reduce/eliminate porn, and less freedom. If it’s a problem in your home, parent better (children) or throw the bum out (husband). It’s another “social” issue that bogs down the debates and – quite frankly – is a bad road to travel for Santorum. IMHO.

  10. Not a problem in my house. My husband has values. Just in liberal and libertarian homes. Don’t see how less demeaning of women is less freedom. Just better values. Go vote for Ron Paul if you want porn and pot. The liberals love RP as they love misbehaving! Just look who is getting drunk tonight. Not me!

  11. At the beginning of the GOP race, I said the true conservative would be for values. Oh no said the soft libertarians. Well the people who have not stood for values in one’s personal life are going no where. Cain has been revealed. Ron Paul Is for gay marriage, pot legalization, and porn in the name of freedom. But true leaders want freedom with values. They stand for faith and family and that is why Rick Santorum and even Mitt Romney are winning. They believe in faith, values, marriage, and personal responsibility. They believe in dignity for all. If everyone lived as they do, we would have a strong America.

    Agree Kate,
    BTW, I’m eating a burger that I bought as a portion of a large reduced ground beef sale ($3.99 per # for 5 + lb) that I can not afford otherwise. Golly, it’s up to $5.99 here regularly. Am I eating pink slime? Probably. I think it tastes somewhat like dog food…

    Mortrey | March 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm |

    Thanks, Mortrey.

    I just got the same thing from another source. This *must* be read in its entirety:

    http://beforeitsnews.com/story/1906/406/Obama_Executive_Order:_Peacetime_Martial_Law.html

    We knew this was coming down, and it has.

    Please, everyone, send this around; if anything ever needed to go viral, this does. This is the evil we’re dealing with.

  14. Faith. Values. Standing by your friends. Working hard. Stable marriages. Family. It is what made America great.

  15. Again Tina – we want LESS government and MORE freedom. You seem to be in favor of internet regulation – a side effect of restricting porn. There’s a boatload of crap out there to sidetrack a person. Family values come from WITHIN – NOT from the outside , or governmental controls. Remember from whenst we come – LESS government.

  16. Folks, this came as a courtesy from SueK via e-mail, and it IS a bombshell!
    This Executive Order was signed by Obama on Mar. 16, 2012.
    Obama Executive Order: Peacetime Martial Law!

    (quote)
    This Executive Order was posted on the WhiteHouse.gov  web site on Friday, March 16, 2012, under the name National Defense Resources Preparedness.  In a nutshell, it’s the blueprint for Peacetime Martial Law and it gives the president the power to take just about anything deemed necessary for “National Defense”, whatever they decide that is.    It’s peacetime, because as the title of the order says, it’s for “Preparedness”.  A copy of the entire order follows the end of this story.

    http://beforeitsnews.com/story/1906/406/Obama_Executive_Order:_Peacetime_Martial_Law.html

    ***********************************
    It’s official – I scanned the entire Order and found some phrases that should be convincing that this is not just for emergencies, like WWII.
    Here are a couple:
    “…….. when needed to meet defense requirements during peacetime, graduated mobilization, and national emergency.”

    …..”National defense” means programs for military and energy production or construction, military or critical infrastructure assistance to any foreign nation, homeland security, stockpiling, space, and any directly related activity.”   (“assistance to any foreign nation”?
    We are like sitting ducks waiting to be deprived of wealth, food, and anything the administration so desires.

  17. People who are still employed could very soon be handed a form to fill out which they will acknowledge the removal of their employers partial payment of their Healthcare insurance. The employee will be forced to seek his/her own healthcare insurance, and It will be supremely expensive. Between this,high auto fuel costs, and rising food prices many people in this country are going to find themselves with nothing left of their earnings, and still have a mortgage payment, and utilities to pay,along with fuel to heat their homes. You know what to do about it. We are getting closer to ACTION DAY.

  18. Martial law has always been an entity which COULD be used in PEACETIME. If there was a National emergency which required the government to SUSPEND your CONSTITUTIONAL rights that is one thing, but the siezure of your property without DUE PROCESS would be quite another. I would venture to gess that it would spark a shooting war in this country. Then certainly the POTUS could invoke martial law,but I have to say that there are a HELL of a lot of Americans who would refuse to follow martial law,and if they unite and act in concert they could shove the martial law order right up the anus of the perpetrator, and his GOONS.

  19. EXECUTIVE ORDERS SIGNED BY A LEGALLY INVALID POTUS,are WORTHLESS. How long are you going to sit on your duffs and do nothing to stop the slow “end running” of the our Constitution by legally invalid, executive orders. Congress is so mentally lame they now refuse to act to save America, and/or themselves.

    Hey All,

    Tina you will NEVER be able to legislate morality.

    Tina obviously HATES the Constitution which in it’s First Amendment prohibits legislation that censors free speech and press, and Tina just dispises that.

    Tina can’t control her own life, so she looks to the government to do it for her.

    Tina continually MISrepresents Ron Paul’s stance on issues.

    IGNORANCE comes to mind.

    I think I’ll get drunk, watch porn and smoke pot before Comrad Santorum or Romney gets elected.

    Cabby,

    I’ve let her go on for over a month stating Paul was for legalization of pot, that he’s anti Israel and for porn.

    The FACT that she is lying about this doesn’t bode well for her entrance into what she believes she exists for.

    Isn’t lying a sin?

    Tina is a “wolf in sheeps clothing”.

  22. Interested Bystander

    Hey All,

    I will suggest that Santorum coming out FOR censorship will HURT his chances.

    He’s getting awful cocky claiming if he wins Illinois he’ll win the nomination. He was pretty humble a couple of months ago, and now it seems he’s getting a big head.

    Didn’t Newt say earliy on that HE was going to win the nomination?

    And now where’s HE at?

    Santorum is alienating a bunch of people if he continues on this censorship crap.

    He’d be smart to stay on the economy, the debt and deficit, unemployment, Obamacare, gas prices and inflation.

    EVERYONE has the ability to censor what they watch or don’t watch, or look at or don’t look at. It is NOT the Government’s responsibility to legislate morality, it is each INDIVIDUAL’s responsibility to decide what is “moral” to them, and as long as it doesn’t infringe on another person’s rights, there’s no need for a law.

    THAT’s being a CONSERVATIVE.

    I would also suggest that Santorum is doing himself NO good saying that he’s going to go to war with Iran.

    The Country is souring on Afghanistan, and I’m thinking they wouldn’t look too positively going from one “situation” in to another one.

    There are PLENTY of IMPORTANT issues for Santorum to go after that will “bring together” a Conservative base (even though he’s NOT conservative in my opinion).

  23. Interested Bystander | March 18, 2012 at 8:31 am |

    Hey All,

    Tina you will NEVER be able to legislate morality.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Agreed, 100%…!!!

    As you mentioned, it is Unconstitutional and outside the powers of the Federal Government to even attempt such nonsense.

    CANDIDATE’S NEED TO ADDRESS THESE THINGS. BUT NONE OF THEM WILL. WELL, EXCEPT FOR MAYBE ONE WHO STANDS FOR LIBERTY AND FREEDOM. WHO WOULD THAT BE?

  26. citizenwells

    Thanks Bessie.
    I noticed the links from Il Pay to Play earlier.
    We have had some “synergy” going on for months as sites actually covering
    Obama’s ties to Rezko and the rest of the story on Chicago corruption.

  27. All of the points of the Executive Order are concerning, but this one is really concerning:

    Sec. 502. Consultants. The head of each agency otherwise delegated functions under this order is delegated the authority of the President under sections 710(b) and (c) of the Act, 50 U.S.C. App. 2160(b), (c), to employ persons of outstanding experience and ability without compensation and to employ experts, consultants, or organizations. The authority delegated by this section may not be redelegated.

    NOTE THE “WITHOUT COMPENSATION” PART.

  28. Romney is not only similar to Oblamer in his use of big government control but also in his campaigning tactics to get what he wants:

    The Romney folks have run a pretty ugly campaign,” said Mike McKenna, a Republican strategist and pollster who is unaffiliated in the presidential race. “It’s been very personal, it’s been very ugly, it’s been very hostile. There’s a lot of bad blood.”

    Santorum and Gingrich, or political action committees that back them, have mounted their own attacks against Romney, of course. But a pro-Romney super PAC, Restore Our Future, has swamped them in fundraising and spending. First it buried Gingrich in an avalanche of attack ads in Iowa and Florida, then it hammered Santorum in Michigan, Ohio and elsewhere.

    Just what we want….more power hungry rather than true conservatives.

  29. OT, but I just have to tell you that we have four to five inches of snow on the ground this morning and there is more to come today AND tomorrow, when the temp. drops downward yet again. It is a winter wonderland out there!

  30. Freedom does not mean full sexual freedom as the
    Ibertarians and far left liberals want. We don’t practice incest or polygamy in this country. It is illegal to have sex with a minor. But many libertarians advocate for full sexual freedoms, full porn and full ability to misbehave. Freedom comes with personal responsibility and limits the ability to demean others. Incest, polygamy, porn, etc demeans and hurts others which is why the all should be banned. Otherwise we have a bunch of sexual deviants running around. If you don’t like it and can’t live a value filled life, vote for Ron Paul., the pride of perverts.

    All of which will be accomplished by the complete Nationalisation of our Industrial Base. Soetoro is moving NOW to put the US in a Socialist state. This is exactly what FDR done soon after the attack on Pearl…….with the HELP of Congress. Our industrial base remained under Federal control until the end of WW2. Today there is NO REASON for such an action other than the lunatic notions of the ILLEGAL POTUS.

  36. As a voter ,and a citizen of the US I would expect the ELECTED POTUS to be pursuing the interests of the American people. It is quite obvious that the interests of the American people has been removed from the operating platform of the PRESENT GOVERNMENT. Only the interests of MUSLIM governments,and the personal enrichment of the PROGRESSIVES who now control the WH has validity. In the coming weeks,and months you will see apalling acts of TREASON against our country. We are GOING to be taken into a Socialist Government MUCH SOONER than anyone has even IMAGINED. You will need to start learning Arabic language, and be sure to buy a Quaran.

    WOW….IB you sure stuck it to Tina…..good on you…..she needs to move to CUBA or one of those controlled countries where you have to live by the same beliefs as their leader! LIBERTY and FREEDOM just aren’t for some folks….face it!

  38. The election process of 2012 will probably be another PUTIN ,and Chavez sort of cherade. The only way to fight it is for 300,000,000 people to get DAMNED upset, and do what they need to do to put America back in the hands of Americans. At present it is in the hands of PROGRESSIVE Socialists who have invited ALL of the MUSLIMS of the world to come to the SOCIALIST UNITED STATES OF AMERICA where they can practice their RADICAL ISLAMIC behavior,and even have a sympathetic court system as well. Shariah Law. Stand idly by,do nothing and you will be rewarded with a Socialist Progressive country, having 250,000,000 Muslims arriving from ALL directions,and living off of YOUR tax money.

  40. “ARE WE ON THE VERGE OF THE OBAMA GREAT DEPRESSION?”

    Wayne Allyn Root
    March 18, 2012

    Excerpt:

    “The question is, is Obama following this same toxic game plan out of leftist naiveté and ignorance? Afterall, Obama’s lifetime of business experience before taking up residence in the White House would not qualify him to run a Bronx bodega. Yet we made him CEO of the world’s biggest economy. Oops.

    Or does Obama understand exactly what he’s doing? Is Obama’s goal to overwhelm the system with debt and entitlements, incite crisis, sow doubt about capitalism, redistribute the wealth of business owners (his political opposition), and force Americans to their knees begging for government to save them, thereby opening the door to big government socialism, or at the very least European-style Social Capitalism (a hybrid of socialism mixed with capitalism).

    Does it really matter?

    Here’s where the story gets downright frightening. This time the results are going to be dramatically worse than 1929. This time we are facing The Greatest Depression ever.

    Why? Because The Great Depression had NONE of problems and obligations we are now facing:

    In 1929 America did not have $115 trillion in debt and unfunded liabilities.”

  41. Afghanistan goes up in flames while Obama has been out campaigning.

    This is the real reason why so much troulble there. Obama has taken his eye off the ball

  42. Just a comment “on topic “…
    During the last fuel cost spike, speculators learned that the tipping point was in the area of $3.50 per gallon of gasoline. This was the point at which consumer discretionary spending began to drop rather rapidly. This drop affected virtually he entire middle class. as a result, the consumer was essentially “conditioned” to do without a number of things essential, as well as non-essential, to living.
    Unlike many other societies, ours is a highly urbanized environment which, as a consequence, is wholly dependent upon transportation. This will not be easily altered, at least not in the near future.
    The $3.50 per gallon figure is more the result of supply and demand in the marketplace itself, and the resultant up-pricing of raw materials. $5.00 per gallon is more the result of market manipulation through outside forces, thus making our system no longer market-driven, and will be yet another market- gouging economic tyranny foisted upon the public by wall street.
    All this translates into a broad market contraction across the board. The speculators also learned that this condition also affected the level of risk associated with this type of predatory investment, as the supply of oil begins to rise quite rapidly and a mass sell-off could result.
    Enter China, India, and Russia. Burgeoning economies with an insatiable thirst for oil. The problem for them is, at least this time around, that the consumers of their products (Americans) have stopped consuming.If these eastern countries buy inflated oil, the unit cost of their goods goes up.Now they must sell those goods in a stalled economy with virtually no demand.
    With a depressed job market, high joblessness, and existing wages not moving in an upward direction, the dangers now become quite obvious.

    “IDS FOR BEER BUT NOT FOR BALLOTS?”

    Doug Giles
    March 18, 2012

    Excerpt:

    “This past week, Attorney General Eric Holder moved to make it illegal to prove that you’re legal in order to vote in Texas in 2012. I guess with Obama’s sagging poll numbers that Holder is concerned that the incumbent is going to get dusted come November if he doesn’t afford undocumented Democrats the wherewithal to vote early and often. Therefore, Holder wants to open up the floodgates in Tejas to the illegal alien hordes to make certain that el presidente gets four more years to further socialize what remains of our fair land.

    As a Texan I think this is pure and uncut grade A horse scat, and I hope to God that my fellow Texans raise holy hell at this egregious overreach into state voting laws.

    Call me weird, but if Texans have to brandish an ID to buy cigarettes or beer, coach a youth football team, see an R-rated movie, cash a check, buy Sudafed or spray paint, pick up their children from school early, rent a video, open up a P.O. Box, pick up tickets at will call for a Bon Jovi concert, or rent a kayak to float down the Guadalupe then I don’t think it is too much to ask that a person who waddles up to a voting booth to elect our next president prove that he or she is here legally. Voting is a sacred honor for legal citizens, and I pray to all that is holy that Texans fight Holder and his boss’s overreach into state voting laws like a pit bull.”

  46. This latest EO is truly scary. The federal government can take control of all of our essentials for life… food, water, energy, transportation, healthcare. It can even compel us to work for them involuntarily without compensation.

    Thanks for the heads up, SueK & Cabby. This is so… God awful.

  47. SueQ | March 18, 2012 at 2:10 pm |

    Hi Sue,

    Apparently, this was a ‘rewriting’ of former E.O.s that have been in existence going back to the 1930s.

    The thing that sticks in my craw is: Why ‘modify’ the E.O. to include new cabinet members now? Why NOW?

    The election is creeping up. Will we indeed have an election this year, or will this E.O. mysteriously kick in, in light of the Occupy protests becoming more violent? Just my thoughts at this point. It’s getting dicey out there.

    Something up his sleeve; you can take that to the bank.

    Lock and load, sistah; lock and load.

  48. SueK,
    I’m reluctant to publicize just how many guns I do or do not possess :) , but I will take your advice to heart. I agree that something is definitely up.

    I have long thought that martial law would be declared and the 2012 election would be cancelled. Surprisingly, many of my family and friends agree. I thought I’d be looked at as tinfoil hatter. Not so.

    Maybe a better investment than gold would be ammo.

    Thanks, sistah

  49. Good morning Coot
    You know I read your post concerning the Atty’s General of the States and, as I was aware of this earlier, I still come up with the fact that essentially nothing is being done. They have noticed, but are content to wait for the SCOTUS to act. Some of us will likely not live long enough for the SCOTUS to act on most of these complaints, if at all.
    How long have they been aware of this now? These transgressions have, at minimum, formed a pattern of activity which could, in itself, be actionable at least at the state level.
    One would reasonably think that 9 Atty’s General could, at the very least, come up with some kind of viable course of action. Maybe making it a 10th Amendment issue would, in effect, bind the SCOTUS, thus putting the onus back on the federal government and make them do the waiting.
    instead of their constituency.

  50. Tina – In my opinion we will soon have far more things to worry about than contraception, abortion & morality. If things keep on the same track they are currently on, we will not have any say in anything. Our Constitution has been put through the shredder. And don’t forget, the U.N. is gaining much control over things. I don’t know about you, but I will always choose freedom.

    St. Charles Caucus HIJACKED – Bryce’s Report
    Submitted by brycesteinhoff on Sat, 03/17/2012 – 22:32
    in

    Ron Paul 2012
    Missouri

    I’m one of the St. Charles County Coordinators for Ron Paul. This is my account of the caucus hijacking on March 17.

    Available for sharing on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/notes/bryce-steinhoff/st-charles-cau

    The St. Charles County Republican Central Committee HIJACKED the St. Charles County Caucus today!

    Due to long lines, the caucus didn’t convene until until nearly 11 AM (it should have begun at 10 AM, but that wait was by far the most bearable of the day).

    Bryan Spencer, chairman of the caucus subcommittee of the St. Charles Central Committee, told me personally, very strongly, at the committee meeting on March 8 that he would work to challenge the St. Charles delegation on a technicality if any one group came in and “hijacked” the caucus by taking all the delegates or otherwise not allowing for a proportionate distribution. This narrow definition of “fair” as described by Spencer simply isn’t his definition to decide. It is the very purpose of the caucus for the body to decide what is fair – how delegates would be apportioned. It is clear that Spencer and the committee were fearful of a Paul or Paul and Romney majority at the caucus – and so they hijacked it instead by ignoring all rules, the orders of the day, and general fairness in chairmanship.

    Bryan Spencer tried to enforce an arbitrary “house rule” ban on recording devices and eject a caucus body member who refused to stop recording. The caucus body of many hundreds erupted into howls of disapproval for what seemed like an eternity. Spencer dispatched on-site police officers to remove him or arrest him for trespassing. So much for fair and accountable. It is clear that the committee had something to hide, but we didn’t have to wait too long to find out what it was.

    Spencer and temporary caucus chairman and Central Committee Chairman Eugene Dokes refused to continue the caucus until the recording devices were stopped and the crowd settled down. During this time I, along with many others, attempted to motion for the rule against recording devices be lifted. No motions or points of order were recognized by either Dokes or Spencer. A large number of additional police officers and highway patrolmen entered the gymnasium during this time to help keep the peace.

    It is my feeling that the body realized that in order for the caucus to have any semblance of productivity, we would have to get quiet so that Eugene Dokes would continue the meeting. The plan was to wait until the election of the Caucus Chairman (Paul and Romney supporters had previously agreed to rally behind Brent Stafford, a Paul supporter) after which we could move to approve recording devices.

    Once we quieted, Dokes carried on with facilitating the prayer and pledge which went off without incident. After this point, Dokes proceeded to entirely ignore the published MO GOP Caucus Agenda and appointed a parliamentarian, the credentials committee, and the rules committee. All three of these are very clearly supposed to be appointed by a newly elected Caucus Chairman. The crowd booed loudly at the gross misconduct by the chair and I, along with others, called for points of order and for the orders of the day. No motions were recognized from the floor.

    At this point, Dokes opened the floor for nominations for Caucus Chairman. The Central Committee shills nominated Matt Ehlen while the crowd nearly-unanimously chanted “Brent Stafford”. After not waiting for further nominations, Dokes called for a voice vote. There were no audible ayes and an uproar of no’s, but Dokes declared that the ayes had it and awarded the position of Caucus Chairman to Ehlen. Dokes refused to recognize many, many calls for a division of the vote, which would have required him to count the votes for the purpose of transparency and clarity.

    Matt Ehlen, illegally “elected” and de-facto appointed chair, then proceeded to demand order, which was rightly met with rejection from the body.

    Bryan Spencer and Matt Ehlen warned that the caucus would be disqualified and no delegates would be awarded if the raucous continued, but united supporters from all campaigns continued to show extreme disgust with the actions of the Central Committee. A motion to adjourn (at least I think there was a motion; I didn’t hear it) was put forward by Spencer and his cronies. It should have required a 2/3 vote since there was still business to be conducted, but regardless Spencer put it up for a voice vote and declared the caucus adjourned.

    At this point Brent Stafford attempted to declare the chair vacant, as is proper parliamentary procedure when a chairman continually disrupts order and steps down. Stafford attempted to facilitate the election of a new chairman to preside over the caucus, but attempts were futile and Spencer and clan demanded that the body evacuate the gym or face arrest.

    We rallied as many of the caucus body as possible to hold a rump convention in the parking lot, where we planned to re-credential the body and hold the caucus fairly according to the agenda released by the MO GOP. We were greeted outside by a large police presence, including at least one helicopter. When word had gotten around and the body that remained congregated in the designated location for the rump convention, Brent Stafford stood on a chair and began instructing the new rump convention body how to turn in credential information.

    While this was happening, two police officers approached Brent and placed him under arrest for trespassing, a charge which was entirely unfounded.

    Police continued efforts to eject the body from the public school grounds and much of the body gathered at nearly Wapelhorst Park to talk, rehash, and rally behind our common goals – transparency and fairness in the process. The entire process uncovered great unity among many camps, particularly the Romney and Paul camps, much to my delight.

    During this process at least one other person, Kenny Suitter, was detained or arrested for refusing to turn off his recording device.

    My belief is that the St. Charles Republican Central Committee had full intentions from the beginning to railroad the caucus results in favor of Santorum, the candidate most supported by the committee’s members. They were vastly outnumbered by Paul and Romney supporters at the caucus and knew they couldn’t pull out delegates without overtly breaking the rules. Bryan Spencer’s cries of “fairness” were a sham intended to skew media reports of the caucus he knew would be heavily contested.

    Let me be clear: The St. Charles Republican Central Committee, lead by Eugene Dokes and Bryan Spencer (and I suspect Cheryl Bates), broke a wide variety of rules, refused to follow the established parliamentary procedure, Robert’s Rules of Order, and HIJACKED the caucus.

    Dokes, Spencer, and Ehlen are all running for public office in Missouri.

    Let’s show them that we will not stand for their totalitarian tactics, but that we demand respect, accountability, and transparency in the process. DO NOT VOTE FOR THESE LIBERTY-ROBBING, FRAUDULENT PEOPLE.

    I beg and plead that the Missouri Republican Party reschedule the caucus and assign a specially-appointed committee not consisting of any Central Committee members to oversee its execution. I also call for the immediate removal of Eugene Dokes as chair of the Central Committee. Please call the Missouri GOP (573-636-3146) and demand that our caucus be rescheduled.

    Additionally, call the St. Peters City Police (636-278-2222) and let them know your disgust with the unwarranted arrests performed during peaceful assembly on public property.

  53. SueQ | March 18, 2012 at 2:46 pm |

    Yup, Sue, I think we all sorta get the feeling that there will be no elections this year; the cabal in power fully intends to stay in power and will pull any stunt they can in order to do just that.

    If the carnival barker, a/k/a/ barky, feels as if he’s gonna get pummeled in November, watch what happens. He’s bottoming out in the polls now, so this is why I think that the ‘rewrite’ of the E.O. happened at this point in time. More to come, I’m sure.

    Each time these Occupy morons get together, their little rallies become more violent. Violence on a large scale in many locations throughout America=a declaration of martial law. Do you think these rich trust fund kiddies and university professors are getting their orders from the White House? Something to think about; a very good excuse to declare martial law and with the rewrite in place, all they need is a ‘go’ to implement it.

    Gotta go polish my tin foil hat, now.

  54. JS – I have a feeling that many will soon understand just how serious this all is & what is at stake. As for myself, I cherish every day I am able to go to work at my crummy little job & come home to what I still own, for now. It is truly frightening.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Maybe that is why some stay so dumbed down because it is TRULY frightening when you finally wake up and learn the truth. Dr. Paul is the only leader we have who wants the power back in the hands of “we the people” but there are VERY FEW here you have figured that out yet!
    Take care my friend……like your posts over at Greg’s too…..I have company in town so I have not had as much time to read and scour the internet for info….turned off the BOOB TUBE a while ago…..I am tired of all the propaganda and lies we are subjected to on a daily basis……I also have become quite FEARLESS……I don’t worry about any of the crap they put out any more!
  56. Tina at least sounds grounded in what are the very foundations of a society and…thinking of the world the children will be forced to grow up in instead of taking the dangerous easy out …”oh what could it hurt”….well, we’re living now the consequences of such a libertarian unaccountable world. Soooo….abortion (the very right to life of that Constitution you happen to mention in the same thought???) is nothing?….morality doesn’t matter?….well, what else is there for the glue for security for the most vulnerable. You contradict yourself. How the heck do you think we’ve gotten to the point where now infanticide itself is becoming justified?? It was LEGISLATED beginning with that harmless libertarian ROE decision and it’s been a slippery slope to perversion from that “little” decision ever since….including now trafficking in the most vulnerable. And more court decisions are here and there liberating even the so-called “man/boy love” groups. There MUST be a counter to this downward slope via its own legislation which has reached the bottom. If you have had no experience with the horror to the individual so addicted to hard porn (everywhere now), the family victims living in hell because of it, or the unreported minors/victims of rape, by Planned Parenthood and sent back to their abusers in the home who themselves act out via porn, you ought to get a little more educated before the “oh, we have much more to be concerned about”. Like what?? Addiction to hard core porn is just as serious and life killing as addiction to hard drugs. Just talk to those involved in helping such individuals/victims all. It is now of epidemic proportions. You must live a sheltered life. After the victims have been found and when the abusing party’s home is searched there is usually evidence of porn.
    The only way the Constitution gets shredded is because no one wants to go to the trouble to aggitate for counter legislation to correct the devouring wolves already established because of the “live and let live” unaccountables of the progressive/libertarian new “religion” of our times.
    Currently the bully pulpit is being used to push the ideology of the perverts. It must then be used for just the opposite to correct the status quo. Romney is too ashamed to speak to the societal evil; Paul is a “don’t look” it doesn’t exist and it won’t hurt anyone….if it does who cares there’s nothing you can do. The same excuse the current usurper uses for the energy scam. We had better get a leader courageous enough to take on the slobs and thugs and get that permissive legislation reversed while there’s still a chance. Care to visit the desperate back roads of Eastern Europe/Russia/former Soviet Union and the resulting human trafficking of the poor victimized from there to all parts of the world where porn/hard porn is the influencing culprit? Or the “business” junkets to Indonesia? Where do you think these victimizers get their perverted ideas? When people cannot control themselves or even be controlled there IS legislation….like Megan’s law. And when a culture permits waaaay too much in what influences those who commit such horrendous crimes there will be counter reporting legislated….only that’s at the end….it should be, common sense warrants, done at where it all starts. Tina isn’t the one who has to be told how high to jump since there is common sense realization of limits there. It’s those who are willing to jump over the unsuspecting cliff who don’t appear to have a clue or a care for weak and vulnerable as to what is happening all around us.
    This is just the beginning of the current forced “legislation” from the top….now secretly branching out to include educational institutions beyond the faith institutions and their services. There are no magical or imaginative “payers” other than those who will be forced to violate their consciences:
    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/03/18/MSM-Ignores-Obamas-HHS-Mandate-Move
    If people ignore the Constitution then there will be legislation to remind them to obey what is contained there. Too bad, but we live in such times where even an amendment seems to have to be established to remind people of just what Marriage itself is….for the sake of the present and future natural law based society. Any flippant catch all response to those serious matters is simply glibness and superficiality.
    A wonderful woman who was born under hitler and lived in East Germany. Listen to her..tell your children to listen to her.
    As she saw them outlaw God.
    We need to stand up and help our country.
    Meet Elke. This inspiring woman was born in Hitler’s Germany and lived under communist rule for years before becoming an American citizen.
    Her video explanation of what happened in Germany under communism and the parallels to our current administration and the path we are on will give you a chill.
  58. Observer and others,
    We can discuss the relativity of the libertarian philosophy until we are blue in the face, but there is one statement by a Founding Father that has been proved to be true:
    “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly adequate to the government of any other. John Adams
    Maybe we have become so used to hearing it that it has become trite.
    So morality DOES count, but it has to emanate from the human heart. There have to be laws to make crimes illegal. That is true in any worthwhile society. This lackadaisical attitude that anyone can do anything he pleases at anytime is not liberty – it is anarchy. The more immoral and criminal people become the more the heavy handedness of the law becomes necessary. The innocent must be protected against willful wrongdoing always.
    In days past when there was a great spiritual awakening in our country, it was amazing how well people behaved and how little need there was to house lawbreakers. Old-fashioned, I know……
  59. Interested Bystander
    Hey All,
    Look, it’s ALREADY illegal to have sex with minors, or to be married to more than one person, so Tina’s points are moot.
    As a “free” people, you are NOT “free” to infringe on other’s rights.
    Taking Observer’s and Tina’s points to it’s true end, then they advocate for gun laws, seat belt laws, car seat laws for children, “hate crime” laws (which really gets me, because a crime is a crime and the legislation makes it MORE of a crime to call someone names while commiting a crime, next it will be a crime simply to THINK something about someone else), food protection “regulations”, and anything else THEY deem “improper”.
    What REALLY gets me is that Tina and Observer seem to think that as long as you do something to someone else’s RIGHTS it’s ok, because it doesn’t affect them. But when “they” make it a crime to do something that Tina and Observer want to do, that’s when they get in a huff.
    Tina is simply IGNORANT continually posting Paul wants this or that when she has NO idea. Because this is what she BELIEVES Paul stands for, she posts it like it is fact, when it isn’t.
    As far as Observer’s comments about abortion, I believe abortion DOES infringe on another’s rights, that being an unborn child. The problem is that the SC has determined that a fetus is NOT a “person”, and until THAT mindset is changed, the only avenue we have is to legislate that the Government can NOT use funds to support abortion. I am ALL for this.
    Tina and Observer obviously do not believe in the American people and believe that they can better decide what I need to do or not do.
    And what makes it even “better”, is that they believe they are “conservative” for believing that.
  60. Speculating what life in a communist country will be like is missing the point.
    Statists and collectivists are dictators plain and simple. Fascism will be the result when a parliamentary type of government is overthrown such as has been the case in many countries in post-colonial Africa and, to some extent, in South America wherein the country becomes compliant to the application of soft socialism. It then only takes about one cycle of govrnment before you have a parliamenary dictatorship (such as we are seeing happening right now in America), and one or two cycles before a full-on dictatorship is established, supported by “the party” as it will be known from then on.
    What IS correct is to try to effect change prior to something like this taking place. ANY change will at least forestall collectivist activity until more permanent change can be established. The reason for ABO.
    One can only hope that the population will not have to sample totalitarianism first, as then it will be too late, and we will be akin to eastern Europe for the next 75 years or so, or until the populace is so tired of being dirt poor and waiting in bread lines, that risking their lives will become an acceptable solution.
  61. Observer and Cabby, well stated. Thanks for your thoughts.
  62. Interested Bystander
    observer commented:
    “Addiction to hard core porn is just as serious and life killing as addiction to hard drugs.”
    Where does THIS statement come from?
    I put this in my search engine and came up with this article:
    http://www.forerunner.com/forerunner/X0388_Effects_of_Pornograp.html
    The article is full of information that bolsters the author’s points.
    There are many things from this article that I could argue, but I’d like to comment on this from the article:
    “Michigan state police detective Darrell Pope found that of the 38,000 sexual assault cases in Michigan (1956-1979), in 41 percent of the cases pornographic material was viewed just prior to or during the crime.”
    My questions would be:
    What about the other FIFTY NINE percent of the sexual assaults? Where is the evidence that the porn was the REASON the crime was committed? And lastly, where is the evidence that the porn was determining factor that “made” the person commit the crime?
    The bottom line is that people CHOOSE to commit crimes.
    There is no way anyone will get me to believe that watching something makes one commit a crime.
    This thinking is as stupid as thinking that alcohol makes people drink and drive, or that guns are the reason people shoot other people, or that soap operas are the reason there are so many affairs.
    Watching porn does NOT cause people to do bad things. People DECIDE to do bad things. The porn argument is simply an EXCUSE for their behavior.
    ANYONE who commits a sexual crime should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, there is no doubt about that, but to suggest that something “makes” someone do something, or even influences that person, is giving the person who committed the crime an “out”.
    One of the problems we have, is that we have gotten to the point where we give excuses for people’s behavior, instead of making the person RESPONSIBLE for their actions. Because of this we have the mindset that we have to legislate to people what they can and can NOT read, watch or listen too.
    This Country was founded on personal liberty and personal responsibility.
    Dicating to people was NOT the intent of our Founders.
  63. Interested Bystander
    Cabby,
    I have to respond to this comment:
    “This lackadaisical attitude that anyone can do anything he pleases at anytime is not liberty – it is anarchy.”
    This comment is taking libertarian’s position way out of context because you forgot one line.
    That being:
    “This lackadaisical attitude that anyone can do anything he pleases at anytime, SO LONG AS THEY DO NOT INFRINGE ON ANOTHER PERSON’S RIGHTS is not liberty – it is anarchy.”
    That one line speaks volumes, and to leave it out is distorting the libertarian postion.
  64. As far as Observer’s comments about abortion, I believe abortion DOES infringe on another’s rights, that being an unborn child. The problem is that the SC has determined that a fetus is NOT a “person”, and until THAT mindset is changed, the only avenue we have is to legislate that the Government can NOT use funds to support abortion. I am ALL for this.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
    The court didn’t deal with “personhood” but with the right to privacy of the woman. Ridiculous. And with the decades of knowledge both psychological as well as scientific, for instance the early development of realization and self protection within the womb, and the impossibility of defining “personhood’s” exact moment of creation. Is it 3 months 42 min. and 20 seconds or 8 months 3 weeks at 4:30 a.m.? The usual comparison is seeing movement in the bushes for a hunter….since he doesn’t know whether this movement is due to a human or an animal he mustn’t shoot!! People have simply lost their reason and appear rather happy to rationalize that!!!! Brave New World indeed….the new speak for basic human selfishness, narcissism, and cowardice of fallen human nature.
    That, is not freedom but license for explicit immoral activity since we are only truly free when under the obedience demanded by the Creator Himself, Who, btw truly believed in legislation for morality since He in His Love for ALL mankind, recognizing our fallen human natures, gave the Commandments for such…and, as they say, they were and are not “suggestions”! That Wisdom has been tested and is always Truth over and above the libertarian experimentation to the detriment of human dignity.
