“Liberals, lacking accountability for their failed policies, and reason for their irrational fear of guns, blame guns and conservatives for gun violence.”…Citizen Wells

“Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA – ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State.”…Heinrich Himmler

“Berettas don’t bluff.”…Jeffrey Reh, general counsel for Beretta

From the Washington Post February 23, 2013.

“Beretta’s future in Maryland tied to state’s gun-control debate”

“On the production floor of Beretta USA sits a hulking new barrel-making machine ready to churn out the next object of obsession in America’s love-hate relationship with guns: a civilian version of a machine gun designed for special operations forces and popularized in the video game Call of Duty.

Beretta, the nearly 500-year-old family-owned company that made one of James Bond’s firearms, has already invested more than $1 million in the machine and has planned to expand its plant further in Prince George’s County to ramp up production.

But under an assault-weapons ban that advanced late last week in the Maryland General Assembly, experts say the gun would be illegal in the state where it is produced.

Now Beretta is weighing whether the rifle line, and perhaps the company itself, should stay in a place increasingly hostile toward its products. Its iconic 9mm pistol — carried by every U.S. soldier and scores of police departments — would also be banned with its high capacity, 13-bullet magazine.

“Why expand in a place where the people who built the gun couldn’t buy it?” said Jeffrey Reh, general counsel for Beretta.”

“In testimony this month in Annapolis, Reh, who oversees the plant, warned lawmakers to consider carefully the company’s future. Reh pointed to the last time Maryland ratcheted up gun restrictions in the 1990s: Beretta responded by moving its warehouse operation to Virginia.

“I think they thought we were bluffing” in the 1990s, Reh said. “But Berettas don’t bluff.””

  1. According to President Chicken Little, this Friday planes will fall from the sky, all child care providers will close their doors, no vaccinations will be available, health care for the elderly will dry up, your house will burn down…………….Oh! did I forget anything?……….Yes I did…………………. 50% fewer TSA staff. Gee. Is that a bad thing?

All this from a trifling 2.3% reduction in spending? Wow!

Maybe Obama is afraid that if “sequestration”, goes through, (his idea to begin with) no one will actually notice.

  2. The Oscars were a disgusting trash fest last night. No surprise there. The host offended everyone he could from women, to Jews, to the Christian Right, etc. Glad I don’t go to the movies anymore. The only movie I saw was Life of Pi since it was about finding God. It got the most awards; even though, most in Hollywood do their best to hate religion. I am sure it surprised a lot there in LA.

  3. Tina,

You have a stronger stomach than I do. Couldn’t watch it. I only read about the “highlights” this morning. If you reccomend “Life of Pi”, I will try to see it.

In answer to your response on the previous thread…my statement concerning hard choices was not directed at which side of the political fence we are on but, rather, when we are going to commit to actual action…
There is now far more than ample concrete proof of a rogue administration and their intentions. There is certainly verifyable reasoning which would more than support a public outcry….Where is it? i.e. mass protests, etc. etc. Hell, Egypt is doing far better than we are, and they are only protesting the basic concepts of fairness, justice, and freedom…not hard constitutional guarantees already in place. This (our) govvernment has already thrown down the gauntlet with the direct violation of of the 2nd Amendment because they know it is the key to the overthrow and absolute control of our republic….Where is the outrage? I will guarantee you they will respond to this, and however they respond will absolutely signal the direction this country will take for at least the next 70 or so years.
I will leave you with this….”rhetoric is only relative to action when it in fact inspires that action, otherwise, it remains only rhetoric and an empty threat”…
…Obama, and his justice department, have now crossed the Rubicon…and all those who believe in our constitutional republic can see it. We continue to sit and wait for help….and there will be no help! We will indeed be our own deliverers…currently, we have the means, and the moral high ground…what do we do?…because without the means, the high ground is rather meaningless.

    Hey All,

Only in the United States can the President get in front of cameras and talk about “balanced cuts” of 2.5 trillion dollars when the deficit in our Country ROSE by 6 trillion dollars.

It must be that “new math” crap I keep hearing about.

And the Republicans and the media just spew Obama’s rhetoric.

Why are the masses not totally fed up with our Government?

    I know I am.

    BOTH SIDES!!!!

    SueQ,

You do realize that these “cuts” aren’t actually “cuts” but reduction in the amount of GROWTH for these programs?

Really not sure when the last time the budget was actually “cut”.

Probably sometime in the early 20th century.

  7. Interested Bystander – I am definitely fed up with both Parties. I’m looking closely at Rand Paul.

At my site, I made a chart based on Glenn Beck’s chalk board drawing about how both Parties are moving away from freedom. It’s at the end of the article. The GOP is going just a bit slower.

    Hey All,

Although I haven’t researched this statement, I have heard that we can balance our budget in 6 years IF we simply reduce each program by 1% for 6 consecutive years.

So if a program received 1 million dollars, it would ONLY get 990,000.00 the first year, 980,100 the second year, 970,299 the third year, 960,596.01 the fourth year, 950,990.04 the fifth year and 941,480.13 the sixth and final year, with this amount being the amount the program will receive from there on out.

So for less than 60,000 for each million we spend, spread out over 6 years so that these programs can get used to dealing with LESS, we can balance the budget in 6 years.

THEN we can start paying down our debt.

Just for the record, our defense budget for 2012 was 707.5 BILLION dollars.

The CUTS at 1% per year for 6 years would make the final year’s budget for our military 666,097,205.68.

A TOTAL cut of only 41 BILLION over 6 years.

I mean come on, there ARE solutions to our problems, we just have to QUIT kicking the can and get to solving them.

Unfortunately in war the terrain is NOT USUALLY a choice. Although I like others I would probably utilise the high ground as much as possible. But those on the high ground are often under attack ie (Hamburger Hill) from the LOW ground. Maybe you were not yet on earth when the Marines found themselves surrounded at the Chosen Reservoir. There was only one way out………”ATTACK IN ANOTHER DIRECTION!” That was during the Korean War,not Viet Nam. There again was a POOR CHOICE of ground by the FIELD Commander. But these were the cards he was dealt. He knew that Chinese forces had crossed into Korea. They brought with them totally different tactics that he nor his troops were prepared for. The Marine Field Commander done the only thing open to him…….in his own words “Attack in another direction”. He was totally correct, they were SURROUNDED,yet he chose to take whatever path was
    there, LOW OR HIGH.

  12. TYPO Chosen= no Chosin =yes

  13. In short we are sometimes forced to fight an enemy,on whatever level of ground we encounter him. We don’t often have the privilege of CHOOSING the BATTLEFIELD.

  14. ……the last comment was learned from two WW2 soldiers who WALKED most of the way from Normandy to the Rhine, and lived to teach the weekend warriors of the 293rd how it was done then. I have the feeling that such people learned early on what they had to do to stay alive. Whatever it was they were successful. Both of our DIs also attended the Battle of the Bulge as well, and NOT BY CHOICE!

  15. Coldwarvet2……….
A true infantryman does not WAIT FOR HELP, particularly when he ALREADY KNOWS than NONE is forthcoming. That is a recipe for dying. If we must die then most of us would rather die fighting, because at least the enemy will pay DEARLY for every inch of ground he gains. Further I will improvise anything which I can possibly do which will either ADD to his LOSSES,or defeat him entirely……..but at least I will have not died for not having put forth everything I could.

  16. Hopefully the new Machine gun from Beretta will be something meaningful. Perhaps a .50 caliber. Barrets is also working on some new full auto weapons. Ever wonder just how many of them will get HIJACKED during their shipping across the country. There are ALREADY huge PRIVATE AMMO DUMPS,all across our country. When push comes to shove the Minutemen will NOT be without a literal ENDLESS supply of ammo.

  17. Further,I would have to say that the firearms use of a movie character (James Bond) doesn’t really account for a hell of a lot. Fantasy is just that, and REALITY dictates what happens when firearms are involved.
