Pope Francis final pontiff?, Peter the Roman?, Jorge Mario Bergoglio Italian ancestry, Saint Malachy prophecy, Destruction of Rome and judgment of Christ?

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”…Saint Malachy

“…and there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.”  … Luke 21:25

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”…Jesus, John 8:32

“POPE FRANCIS HISTORY’S ‘FINAL’ PONTIFF?”

“An author who predicted Pope Benedict XVI would be the first pontiff
in nearly 600 years to resign believes the election today of Jorge
Mario Bergoglio as the 266th Roman Catholic pontiff lines up with a
medieval prophecy that would make him the “final pope” before the End
Times.

Tom Horn, co-author with Cris Putman of the book “Petrus Romanus: The
Final Pope is Here,” told WND today Bergoglio’s selection was a
“fantastic fulfillment of prophecy.”

His book examines St. Malachy’s “Prophecy of the Popes,” said to be
based on a prophetic vision of the 112 popes following Pope Celestine
II, who died in 1144.

Malachy’s prophecies, first published in 1595, culminate with the
“final pope,” “Petrus Romanus,” or “Peter the Roman,” whose reign ends
with the destruction of Rome and the judgment of Christ.

Horn has said a pope of Italian descent would fulfill the prophecy,
noting Bergoglio is the son of Italian parents and a Jesuit.

“Being a Jesuit is a very important aspect of our prediction in our
book,” Horn told WND in an email.

Citing his book, Horn said the name “Petrus Romanus” in the prophecy
“implies this pope will reaffirm the authority of the Roman Pontiff
over the Church and will emphasize the supremacy of the Roman Catholic
Faith and the Roman Catholic Church above all other religions and
denominations, and its authority over all Christians and all peoples
of the world.”

Horn pointed out the Jesuits order was organized “to stop
Protestantism from spreading and to preserve communion with Rome and
the successor of Peter.”

As WND reported, Horn and his co-author, Cris Putnam, predicted in
their book Benedict would step down, making way for history’s “final
pope.””

The page changed ,so I’ll post here again.
I know its been awhile , but isn’t Mike Zullo supposed to be at CPAC meeting some congressional people ? Can anyone please check on any progress ? I have not seen a word on any site.

  2. I am not Catholic, so the election of the new pope shouldn’t concern me all that much, but I found the prophecy of the last pope interesting. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t say whether he is good or evil. Only that he will shepherd the church through very difficult times, and will be the last.

An interesting quote from the new pope…………

“As you know, it is the duty of the conclave to appoint a Bishop of Rome, and it seems to me that my brother Cardinals went to fetch him at the end of the world.”

Maybe a better choice of words would have been “to the ends of the earth”, but even so, that is the way it stands.

“President Obama ‘gets TWO standing ovations from House Republicans during rare meeting on Capitol Hill’”
By Associated Press Reporter and Daily Mail Reporter

“President Obama was treated to not one but two standing ovations at the beginning and end of his meeting with House Republicans held on Capitol Hill Wednesday.
A source told ABC News the talks between the president and leaders of the GOP featured tough questions and provided no immediate solutions, but were ‘very cordial.’
Virtually every House Republican who directed a question at Mr Obama stood up and prefaced his query by saying, ‘Thank you for coming’ and ‘You are welcome here anytime.’”

  4. A command to the original Francis, saint:

‘Go, Francis, and repair my house, which is falling into ruin’

Not long after his return to Assisi, whilst Francis was praying before an ancient crucifix in the forsaken wayside chapel of St. Damian’s below the town, he heard a voice saying: “Go, Francis, and repair my house, which as you see is falling into ruin.”

  5. The more Ilook into the history of the Catholic Church the more I am beginning to have my doubts. Soetoro allegedly attended the Franciscan Assissi school in Indonesia, which was,or is a Catholic School. But why the hell were they also teaching ISLAM? If they are sort of IN BED with ISLAM it would explain a lot of the behavior that was exibited by the leadership at NotreDame University. By covering up their own religious icons they HAD TO KNOW that the visitor was a MUSLIM,and his visit WAS SANCTIONED by the school leaders. If the Catholic Church is in bed so to speak with the ISLAMIC a holes of the world, then hopefully the Catholic church will get to pay it’s just due. It has long been suspected that the Vatican aided the NAZIs in escaping to Argentina. Of course Francis1 was a mere child during ww2, but that fact doesn’t change what WAS DONE by the Vatican. This taken nas a whole ties a lot of questions into a neat little bundle, and if Soetoro attended the Franciscan Assissi School he may still be connected to the Franciscan organisation in many unsuspected ways. We have a local Catholic church which was, and still is being operated by the Franciscan Friars, or whatever they call themselves. While I do not in anyway suggest that the Catholic church has done anything wrong,I DO think that it is time to take a strong look at them from a new perspective. I personally think that there is much going on within the Catholic Church which is STILL an UNKNOWN VALUE. They have NEVER YET been TRUTHFUL regarding the behavior of their OWN,so it is easy to conclude that there could be a LOT MORE stuff going on which will NEVER be made public until it is EXPOSED by somebody from within who is really sick of their behavior. If Francis 1 is the real goods, and his intent is to clean up the Catholic Church then I CHEER HIM ON. But if he acts to circumvent,or otherwise whitewash everything then I find myself doubtful about the future of the church. We shall see!

  6. So far, the new pope seems like a very simple, humble man. Not pro gay marriage or pro abortion. Other than that, I don’t know. Could be a very strong force for good.

  7. I don’t care if he is the so called authority. He’ll go along to get along.

Which means he’ll be against homosexual marriage and abortion, couching them in strong terms but not pushing it too hard, and he’ll be for so called social justice, meaning socialism, and he will rant and rave about it endlessly and push it very hard. Wait and see.

If he wants the Vatican to function smoothly, this is what he’ll have to do.

  8. OT, but is anyone watching the C-PAC on C-Span? Just heard a great panel discussion on Benghazi and before that a wonderful speech by Sen. Rand Paul. (No interruptions with ads, which is really nice)

  9. fhl,
The social justice thing bothers me…….I have read the same elsewhere, and those are buzz-words used by socialists here in our country and around the world.

    ==============================
They weren’t “teaching Islam”!!! They were permitting those registered as belonging to other faiths to go off to those places where their personal faith was taught…by their own. They had to do that by law….they wouldn’t have lasted too long, for the sake of their own Catholic students, if they did not do so. If I were a Catholic living in another religious culture which forced me to agree to only being taught the foreign and “apostate” faith to my belief I certainly would not like any of that forced upon me.

Mother Teresa NEVER forced her own beloved and deeply held Catholic faith upon those of other faiths in India while she attended to their needs…even the most vulnerable. She demonstrated her faith by her love in action….accepting those she had no right to judge and respecting their own experiences and free will to be effected by herself and her sisters only if they decided to do so. John Paul II, while a bishop in Poland under the Nazis was asked to find a Catholic home for a Jewish couple’s young children in order to save their lives, but he was told that they did not want those children raised as Catholics. He respected their desire and God given authority as parents over their children and told the family that took them in the parents’ wishes. This family demonstrated their own faith by their love and charity. So happy that we Christians don’t force conversion or unwanted teachings by force, intimidation or manipulation as do the radical Islamists…or adopt the ways of the pompous Pharisees and Scribes of Jesus’ day who liked to announce to God how blessed they were in not being like those other sinners!

  11. Observer,

You are obviously a fervent Catholic and a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. As I said before, I am not Catholic, but a believer in the Lord Jesus. Many protestants were taught that Anti-christ would emerge from the Roman church. Especially writings from the early 1900′s. I don’t necessarily believe this, but I don’t count it out either.

All I know is that there are many many people from every nation, tribe and tongue that will worship their Redeemer in the latter days.

I look forward to meeting you.

“It’s unbelievable that they ask this man to comment on Obama, then try to stop him from explaining the truth.
Obama IS an Alinskyite and Marxist. Why can’t Neil just let him go with what he believes and let the audience decide?

I like Cavuto, but there is a reason for him not letting Mr. Boone go down that road.
The reason: Alinsky tactics will be used agains Cavuto and Fox if he doesn’t shut him down.
The very point he is trying to make!
We are in big trouble until the media is stopped. We need to use Alinsky tactics especially on the MSM.
We need to be organized and in large numbers defeat this Marxism or regret it.”

  13. Bob,

The Alabama case is something the Republicans don’t want to hear either. They have their so called Presidential hopefuls such as Rubio, Jindal, Santorum, Cruz (and McCain of course).

This would throw a serious monkey wrench in their agenda. I’m watching CPAC recap coverage now and announcers calling them the future Presidential hopefuls as well.

Cabby, I agree with you per the republican usage of the words “social justice”, it is a term dubbed by the socialist. It just shows me how far left the Republicans are willing to go to stay in power. They don’t understand that over 4 million republican voters didn’t show up because of our disgust with their left leaning issues. Their solution? Lean further left towards the Socialist….

Go figure. All I can say is it will bite them…again.

  14. I got stuck in moderation. Very rare for me

    William,
The truth must prevail, and let the chips fall where they may. The Constitution is more important than any one man, or group of men.

  18. Bob Strauss……………
While your curt little comment was cute, but it didn’t take long to comprehend what you were really saying. My only reply to that is THINK WHAT YOU WISH…….it is still allegedly a FREE WORLD,and I would be the last to take away that right from anyone..

  19. I am sure that there are those who see my views ,and or comments, as being “UPSIDE DOWN”. Maybe a few others should give it a try………certainly a new perspective. I have found over the entirety of my life that sometimes a NEW PERSPECTIVE, helps. Sadly there are a lot of people around who are reluctant to take a new perspective, this largely stems from the fact that those people have their minds already made up……RIGHT ,WRONG ,or indifferent. This is almost hand in glove with those who view UP as DOWN. But then that is just my own belief, think what you choose. At 80 years of age I couldn’t care less. I have paid my dues!

  20. but you can be sure ,I will continue to view things as I always do. …..”upside down”,” faulty brain”, or whatever else might occur. By the way I would ask Mr. Strauss when, and in what capacity he served his country.

  21. Observer………..
Irregardless, I still stand with the notion that the Vatican was COMPLICIT in the NAZI criminals escaping to Argentina. I am sure that there others who will vehemenently disagree with that. I say to those people tell that to the Jewish investigators who finally found Eichman………in Argentina. Then there was the fact that Argentina was prior to WW2 a favorite hangout for NAZIS. Of course this could be my UPSIDE DOWN viewpoint, but what the hell it is another perspective, but I tend to believe that historicl fact might well prove this point, in addition to which a Nazi battleship had it’s life brought to an end just off Argentina, by the British. There again is my UPSIDE down VIEW so think whatever you wish.

  22. NIGHTY NITE ALL! My question! When I lay in a bed and look at the ceilling am I getting an UPSIDE DOWN VIEW of the ceiling, or just a horizontal view.

  23. JEWISH RECOGNITION OF POPE PIUS XII’s SUPPORT

Contrary to some recent historical readings, which tend to picture Pius XII as silent, if not condescending, on the question of Nazi anti-Semitism, a document has been discovered in Israel that not only confirms Pius XII’s role in defense of persecuted Jews, but reveals that world leaders of the Jewish communities at the time were very aware of his action, to the point that after the war they came to Rome and gave the Catholic Church a very generous donation.

  24. When we look back over the well recorded historical facts the truth is that Bishop Alois Hudal DID IN FACT AID a number of escaping Nazi War Criminals to Argentina, and other South American countries, The list includes Adolf Eichmann,Franz Stangl,Joseph Mengele, and at least 8 other high ranking Nazi War Criminals. For anyone who WANTS to KNOW the truth about Vatican involvement with Nazi War criminals, and tyhe Vatican Ratlines you only need to explore the records which are FREE for all to examine. Start with WIKIPEDIA, and go from there. Perhaps everybody will obtain a new PERSPECTIVE regarding the Vatican heirarchy. While many people try very hard to deny it all ODESSA did in fact exist, as DID the Vatican Ratlines. You may wish to say that this is all UPSIDE DOWN, but again I refer you to the HISTORICAL RECORDS.

  25. Much speculation is now rife regarding the interpretation of the Prophesy of the Popes (St. Malachy) following the election of Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio as Pope, who becomes Pope Francis I. This speculation would have been here, whoever had been elected Pope – had it been Peter Cardinal Turkson – to me quite an obvious “Peter the Roman”, through to a none Cardinal, unknown Catholic male with no connections whatsoever to the name Peter nor the city of Rome.

Speculation and interpretation is always going to be there, and if you try hard enough, a vague connection can always be found. This is evident from the “connection” between Pope Francis and Peter the Roman which is already circulating the forums – the fact that he chose to name himself after St Francis, and the father of St Francis wad called Peter. To be frank, such a connection couldn’t be less vague. I would doubt the Pope even knew the name of St Francis’s father, and this would have had no baring whatsoever on his choice of name, and clearly no connection to him being “Peter the Roman”. This is merely a coincidence that has been found by journalists, historians and internet hacks who have “dug deep enough”.

I early touted the fact that Peter Cardinal Turkson would have fit the bill of being Peter the Roman, had he been elected by the Conclave. This would have been transparent, given the fact that the gentleman’s name is Peter and he lives in Rome. For this reason however I have no doubt that Cardinal Turkson was never even considered by the Cardinals in Conclave, for the simple reason that the Cardinals would have been scared to make that appointment – not due to a fear that he is actually Peter the Roman, the Antichrist, False Prophet etc, but due to the fact that “Pope” Turkson’s reign would have been tainted by a connection to Peter the Roman that was simply, too close for comfort.

In reality it is clear that the naming of “Peter the Roman” is a vague reference to the 112th Pope, without giving any information away which would lead to the Cardinals choosing against the appointment of the true Peter the Roman, just as they clearly will have done with Cardinal Turkson, owing to the clear association as described above. In a nutshell therefore, the term “Peter the Roman” is an intentionally vague reference in order that no influence over the Conclave could be given by the prophecy.

    In simple terms “Peter the Roman” would and does fit an accurate description of any Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. The official style of a pope is;

“Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman province, Sovereign of the State of the Vatican City, Servant of the Servants of God”

Successor to the Prince of Apostles = descendant of St Peter. Who also speaks from the “Chair of St Peter”. Simply put any Pope is technically “Peter”.

Bishop of Rome/Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman province = any Pope can be regarded as “Roman”.

So whoever had been elected as the 112th Pope on the list of St Malachy could and would have been Peter the Roman. This means that the significance of the appointment is in no way connected to the name itself, but it is the individual whom is of significance. People have incorrectly based significance wrongly on the connection to the name of “Peter the Roman” when the true fact is the name bares no weight or significance whatsoever, however the true and actual fact is that the incumbent Pope, Francis I, by virtue of his election as the 112th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church IS Peter the Roman – that is a fact if you subscribe to the Prophecy of the Popes.

We have clearly established that the current Pope is Peter the Roman – there can be no doubt of this. Whoever had been elected as this Pope was always going to be Peter the Roman. Not by name, but by the fact that they are the man predicted to be Peter the Roman. It is pointless looking to link or detach this Pope from or to being Peter the Roman, he is, end of.

So we now have him – but what does this mean? Many of the interpretations of the Prophecy of the Popes seem to lean towards Peter the Roman being evil, the Antichrist, the False Prophet. So is he? Or is he actually the opposite? This is what we need to concentrate on determining, rather than wasting time and energy concentrating on the “is he, isn’t he”.

    It appears that Peter the Roman is in general getting a “bad press” and it is the opinion of most that he is actually evil. Why? St Malachy did not name him as the Antichrist, False Prophet, Devil or anything remotely similar. It appears that these conclusions are being drawn based on not what was said in the prophecy, but how it was said and people are taking the wording of the prophecy (once again) too literally, rather than looking at the bigger picture and what in fact was being said therein. The translation of the prophecy into English reads;

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End”

    Obviously it is clear to see where all the panic and end of days theories are coming from when you look first glance at the prophesy and the way it is worded. Terms like “persecution”, “tribulations”, “destroyed”, “judge” and “end” of course could point towards something bad, perhaps the end of days, emergence of the Antichrist or the destruction of the church, but is this actually what it says? I would hypothesise that it doesn’t. If you dissect what is actually being said and place it in a proper context which it was clearly intended to be read, it actually can be seen to mean the exact opposite to the popular interpretation;

“in the FINAL persecution of the Holy Roman Church” – if this prophecy was a signal of a dark force at work and an imminent end of days I would suggest that the word final would not be present and it would read “the persecution” instead. The fact it says “final” suggests that this will be, just as it says the LAST persecution of the church – meaning there are better times ahead. The church has in fact been persecuted for various reasons since the start, starting with the execution of St Peter, all the way through to the contemporary problems – sex abuse scandals, to name but one. So why hasn’t anyone already suggested that the final persecution of the church could literally mean that the END is finally upon us of the persecution of the church, and after Pope Francis “Peter the Roman” has intervened the church will move onto better things?

“Pasture his sheep”. If Peter the Roman (or Pope Francis) is the antichrist etc, then are they really his sheep (followers)? No they are not. They would be people who are against him and who he is against, whom he is seeking to deceive. But the prophecy is quite clear in stating HIS sheep – meaning that they truly are his people which in turn detracts from the theory that he is in fact the Antichrist, and suggests clearly that he is a genuine Pope.

“The fall of the city of (Rome)”. Again this has been interpreted as a sign of doom and the destruction of the church. This is not what it says. The prophecy nowhere states that the church will fall, it states the city (interpreted as Rome) will be destroyed. The church, whilst based in Vatican City, within the City of Rome is international and not confined to Rome. Therefore even if the entire city of Rome was totally destroyed (physically) now, then the church would still exist accross the globe and would surely regroup elsewhere with haste. So what significance can be put on the destruction of the “city” that does not mean the end of the church as a whole? This is so simple – the word “city” had long been associated with wealth and financial growth. Cities are highly populated areas rife with industry and effectively linked to the making of money and the creation of wealth. A commodities trader working for a financial institution for example, would say they work in the “city”. I would therefore suggest that this part of the prophecy does not relate to or mean the destruction of the church, nor the physical destruction of Rome itself, but actually the destruction of the Vatican itself as a financial power. You only have to refer to one of the first statements made by Pope Francis after be was elected Pope – stating he wants a “poor church” and thus signalling his intention to take the riches away from the church to benefit the genuinely needy – therefore destroying the church as a financial power “city” and restoring its core purpose and values. A bad thing? Clearly not? The work and will of the devil? Quite the opposite!

“The dreadful judge will judge his people”. This is the part of the prophesy that I struggle with the most. It could be a simple reference to the wrongdoers of the world (and more specifically the church) being held to account following their death, by God, as the Christian faith as an entirety has always believed. Likewise, it could be Satan (due to the term “dreadful”) and a reference to him judging his failed minions, after they have failed to corrupt the church, after Pope Francis saves the church. Either way, judgment has always been interpreted as “judgment day” signalling the end of times, but in the Christian faith judgment has always been ongoing and therefore there is no significance to this part of the prophesy which is out of the norm.

Finally, the prophesy concludes “the end”. Again, this is being interpreted as “the end of the world”. It doesn’t say this. It simply says “the end” as a million authors have written at the conclusion of books they have written, St Malachy could simply be signalling the end of his writings. If he had added the words “of the world” then this would be clear, however as it stands it just appears that he was simply signalling the end of what he had to say/write. Nothing more.

In summary therefore, yes I do believe that the prophesy of St Malachy is genuine – there are far too many similarities for them not to be.

However I do not believe that this pope is the final pope, nor the Antichrist, nor the signal of the end of times, but an honest, humble and decent man whom will destroy everything that is wrong with the church and return the church to the people. Let us just hope that his influence will extend to other world leaders and that the world as a whole, beliefs and faiths aside will improve as a result.

Long live His Holiness Francis I and may God be with you. I hope that one day I am able to meet this wonderful man.
