Rod Blagojevich has been convicted on 17 of 20 counts. Counts 1,2 and 4 were dropped earlier this year. An appeal is expected. The William Cellini trial is scheduled for August 2011.

Rod Blagojevich was originally charged with 24 counts. During the second trial, the prosecution pared the counts to 20. What follows is a run down of the charges and the verdict for each.

In regard to :
Count 20-Bribery conspiracy related to the Senate Seat-GUILTY
Conspiracy involves a secret plan or agreement between two or more people to commit an illegal or subversive act. So who are the other conspirators? Shouldn’t they be indicted and tried also?
When is Soetoro’s Court case? Why wouldn’t Blagojevich press charges agianst the criminal in chief? Keep fighting for truth and justice, sure would like to see it while I am here on earth.
Here are the 3 Governors –
1 – Dan Walker, Democratic governor in the 1970s, was later involved in the Savings and loan scandals and convicted of federal crimes related to fraudulent loans to himself from his own First American Savings & Loan Association of Oak Brook. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.
2 – Otto Kerner, Jr., Democratic governor in the 1960s, then a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, was convicted of 17 counts[citation needed] of bribery, conspiracy, perjury, and income-tax charges from his time as governor, and received 3 years in prison and a $50,000 fine in 1973. He was prosecuted by future Illinois governor Jim Thompson.
3 – Rod Blagojevich, Democratic governor immediately succeeding Ryan, was impeached and removed from office by the Illinois General Assembly in January 2009 after being tied to multiple “pay to play” schemes.[1] In August 2010, he was convicted of lying to the FBI in connection with the investigation, but the jury deadlocked on 23 other charges.[5] Blagojevich was retried on 20 counts from his 2010 trial and on June 27, 2011, Blagojevich was convicted on 17 counts of fraud, acquitted on one count and the jury was hung on two.

Three former Illinois governors have gone to prison in the past 35 years, and a host of other governors have gotten into legal trouble.
_Otto Kerner, a Democrat who was governor from 1961 to 1968, served less than a year of a three-year sentence after his 1973 conviction on bribery, tax evasion and other counts. He was convicted of arranging favorable horse racing dates as governor in return for getting horse racing association stock at reduced prices. Kerner died in 1976.
_Dan Walker, a Democrat who was governor from 1973 to 1977, served 1 1/2 years of a seven-year sentence after pleading guilty in 1987 to bank fraud, misapplication of funds and perjury. The charges were not related to his service as governor.
_George Ryan, a Republican who was governor from 1999 to 2003, was convicted of corruption in 2006 for steering state contracts and leases to political insiders and helping cover up bribes paid in return for truck drivers licenses while he was secretary of state and then governor. He is serving a 6 1/2-year prison term.
In addition, William Stratton, Illinois governor from 1953-1961, was later indicted but was acquitted on charges of income tax evasion.

George Homer Ryan (born February 24, 1934, in Maquoketa, Iowa) was the 39th Governor of the U.S. state of Illinois from 1999 until 2003. He is a member of the Republican Party. Ryan became nationally known when he “raised the national debate on capital punishment” by issuing a moratorium on executions in 2000.[1] He is currently serving a prison sentence and is the first of two consecutive Illinois governors to be convicted on federal corruption charges.[2]

As bad as I would like to see Blago roll over on Obama and Emmanual, it won’t happen.
He’ll get sentenced, but will stay out of prison until AFTER the next POTUS election when Obama pardons him, win or lose.

Thank God at least someone finally got indicted! Many more need to be taken down as well.
I’m unfortunately from Illinois. 😦 I saw a funny statement awhile ago that I thought was funny “Illinois, the place where the govenors make the license plates”. Unfortunately it’s soooo close to the truth!!!
